Planning and carrying out the migration of existing HMI projects: screens, VBScript to JavaScript, faceplates and libraries.
Custom Web Controls & Dynamic SVGs
Custom HMI components for WinCC Unified (CWC) and dynamic SVG graphics for when the standard objects are not enough.
TIA Portal Standards & Libraries
Structured S7-1200/1500 programs, type libraries and faceplates that make machine variants easier to build and maintain.
MES & IT/OT Integration
C#/.NET middleware, REST APIs and database interfaces that connect machines to MES, ERP and data platforms.
I work remotely: development, code reviews and technical support. On-site commissioning is currently not available.
Selected Projects
WinCC Advanced → Unified migration with 6 Custom Web Controls
Migrated an HMI project with around 200 screens from WinCC Advanced to WinCC Unified and developed 6 Custom Web Controls as part of the new visualization.
Fleet migration to WinCC Unified
Led the migration of an entire Siemens machine portfolio from WinCC Advanced to web-based WinCC Unified, together with standardizing the PLC programs across machine types.
MES & SCADA modernization for paint shops
Managed MES/SCADA modernization projects with budgets of up to €500k: server specifications, ERP integration and on-site factory acceptance tests (FAT).
Retrofit of a PCB production fleet
Migrated legacy machines from Step 7 Classic and C++ to TIA Portal and C#/.NET. Reworked PLC logic reduced the average cycle time by 10%.
Thermal hazard detection for tunnels
Real-time fusion of 3D laser scanner and infrared line camera data (512 lines/s) with an algorithm that flags overheated vehicles before they enter a tunnel.
About Me
I'm Jorge Sánchez, an automation engineer based in Esslingen am Neckar. For more than ten years I have worked where machines meet IT: PLC and HMI programming, MES integration, and leading projects from specification to factory acceptance.
Alongside my full-time role, I take on a small number of freelance projects through Sánchez Automation. You work directly with me, with no agency in between and no overhead.
